Diabetic retinopathy

Prolonged elevated blood sugar levels can lead to damage to the retina of the eye. This is known as retinopathy. To diagnose changes to the retina requiring treatment, people with diabetes should have photographs of the back of the eye should taken regularly. Good diabetes management is pivotal in managing retinopathy.
