What is Palliative Hub?

The purpose of Palliative Hub is to provide information about palliative care and hospice care, and to support the patient and the people close to them as well as professionals in providing palliative care for patients 18 years and older.

The contents of Palliative Hub have been produced to cover a wide range of topics concerning palliative care for adult patients and various related themes. Palliative care refers to active, comprehensive care provided to a patient with an incurable illness and to their loved ones. The contents respond to the patients’ and their loved ones’ needs for information and support with a multiprofessional approach. This online service caters to the needs of users nationwide.

Palliative Hub has been built by palliative care and hospice care experts from all over Finland. The production of the contents has been a collaborative process between specialised healthcare, primary healthcare, and the third sector. The developers and creators of the contents have involved palliative care and hospice care specialist physicians and nurses, medical experts and nurse practitioners, experts in various specialties, researchers, clergy, social workers, and project workers from the Virtual Hospital 2.0 project. The development of the service and production of the website has involved patients receiving palliative care and their loved ones, peer supporters, and volunteers..

The aim is to further develop the online service based on the feedback we receive to respond to the needs of patients and their loved ones as well as professionals.
