Registration to the emergency department

Registration to the emergency department involves taking a queue number and waiting for your turn to have your need for care assessed.

Several emergency departments make use of a queue number system. Registration can be conducted using your Kela card, another personal identity card with a barcode, or your personal identification number. Depending on the system, the device may ask to check your contact information on while as you register. Pre-checking your information makes many things go smoother.

Symptoms that require urgent attention, such as chest pains, difficulties breathing, loss of consciousness, or symptoms consistent with cerebral circulation issues, require treatment to be started quickly.

If a patient who needs urgent care arrives at the emergency department by themself, they should contact the staff without delay.
