Technical implementation and integration of the Health Village knowledge base

The Health Village knowledge base is flexible and reusable. Its technical implementation enables the content to be utilised across multiple channels on different platforms and for various purposes.

The Health Village knowledge base has been designed to be utilised in a variety of ways across different digital services. The basic idea is that content is structured and separate from the specific layout of an individual web page. This means that the content is not tied to a specific page template, user interface or publication method.

Structured content makes it possible to use the same data across multiple user interfaces and services simultaneously. The same content can be used for websites, online service portals and customer service solutions, among other things, without the need to produce or maintain it separately for each environment.

The technical solution for the knowledge base supports long-term development and the evolution of services over time. When content and its structure are decoupled from the user interface, digital services can be updated, expanded or replaced without having to rebuild the content itself. This promotes both cost-effectiveness and controlled development.

The Health Village knowledge base provides a shared and flexible foundation upon which wellbeing services counties and other stakeholders can build their own digital solutions. More information about the technical implementation, the use of interfaces and the documentation provided to developers can be found in the following sections of this page.

The data can be easily retrieved via the REST interface provided by Health Village. The interface enables the flexible use of knowledge base content across a variety of digital services without the need to copy or maintain the content separately in multiple systems.

The interface allows users to select their preferred language so that content can be provided in Finnish, Swedish and, to some extent, English. The content is clearly structured and based on a modern, modular data model, which supports its use across different applications and user interfaces.

The technical solution has been designed so that the same content can be used across multiple service platforms simultaneously. This supports controlled development, reduces duplication of effort and enables digital services to be developed in stages without being tied to a single user interface. Use of the interface requires an agreement with Health Village.

Health Village offers an API portal designed for developers, which supports the smooth and controlled implementation of the interface. The API portal brings together all the information essential for using the interfaces in one place and helps developers get a clear overview without the need for separate research.

The API portal contains documentation for the interfaces as well as tools for testing interface calls. The documentation describes the available interfaces, data structures and fundamental principles so that developers can plan the implementation in a controlled manner within their environment.

In the future, the API portal will be further developed to support analytics relating to the use of interfaces, as well as collaborative features such as information sharing between developers. These measures will enable the use and development of the interface to be supported in a sustainable and transparent manner.

The contents of the knowledge base are identified using unique article tags. These tags enable individual pieces of content to be targeted, retrieved and utilised in a controlled manner via the interface.

The article tags enable the wellbeing services county to specify the digital services in which content is displayed and/or which service package it belongs to. This supports the reuse of content and makes it possible to use the same information in different contexts without the need for manual work.

The content of the knowledge base is utilised via interfaces as part of the digital services and service chains in the wellbeing services counties. Use of the interface always requires an agreement with Health Village.

The contractual principles ensure that the contents of the knowledge base are used in a controlled and appropriate manner, in accordance with the agreed rules. This supports the reliability, maintainability and long-term development of the content from the perspective of the entire network. The agreement ensures that the implementation proceeds smoothly and that the parties understand their respective responsibilities and roles regarding the use of the knowledge base.

The technical capability to utilise the interfaces is in place, and the interfaces are already being used as part of various Health Village service packages.
