Clear the airways:
- Place one hand on the patient’s forehead and the other under their chin.
- Cautiously tilt the head backwards.
- Feel for the breath with the back of your hand.
- See if the chest is moving up and down.
- If the patient is not breathing or is breathing abnormally, move them onto a hard surface and perform CPR.
Stop bleeding:
Stop the bleeding of a wound by pressing it with a woolly hat, scarf or some other suitable piece of clothing.
