Raasepori Emergency Department

The Raasepori Emergency Department serves the residents of Raasepori and nearby areas. All emergencies are treated regardless of the patient’s home municipality. The emergency department is open 24/7.

The Raasepori Emergency Department is a joint emergency service providing both primary and specialised emergency care. Emergency department treat patients with serious illnesses and a need for urgent care when their own health stations are closed.

Contact the emergency services in your local health centre during its opening hours. At other times, call the telephone helpline for urgent care: Medical Helpline 116117. The number is free to call and is available 24/7.

The Emergency Department is located on the first floor of Raasepori Hospital. The Emergency Department is the only emergency service in Raasepori. Service is provided in both Finnish and Swedish.

Registration and assessing the need for care

Take a number from the ticket machine and wait for your turn to register as a patient. After this, the Department Secretary checks the patient’s personal details.

At the emergency department, the patient’s need for care and urgency is first assessed, and the patient will be seen by a nurse or a doctor or placed in a treatment area for monitoring. If necessary, the patient is admitted to hospital.

If the patient’s condition does not require emergency care, the patient is advised to contact their own health centre.

Patients are seen in order of urgency. This is why the waiting times can vary regardless of the order of arrival.

A designated nurse is responsible for the patient’s care at the Emergency Clinic and the patients are welcome to speak to their nurse at any time if they have any questions.

Nurse’s consultation

Some of the emergency patients are seen by a nurse. The nurses who see emergency patients have been specially trained, and they will always consult a doctor when necessary.

Visiting the emergency department and patient inquiries

We hope that the patients have no more than two persons accompanying them. Otherwise there are no restrictions on visits.

Visitors are asked to wait in the waiting area during medical procedures. Family members should also speak to the designated nurse in matters concerning the patient.
