An urgent situation means that the patient is not in immediate danger, but the situation requires treatment on the same day (e.g. abdominal pain, small injuries and bruises, sudden deterioration of general condition).
Contact the emergency services in your local health centre during its opening hours. At other times, call the telephone helpline for urgent care:
Medical Helpline 116117. The number is free to call and serves 24/7.
Take a number from the ticket machine and wait for your turn to register as a patient.
At the emergency department, the patient’s need for care and urgency is first assessed, and the patient will be seen by a nurse or a doctor or placed in a treatment area for monitoring. If necessary, the patient is admitted to hospital.
If the patient’s condition does not require emergency care, the patient is advised to contact their own health centre.
Patients are seen in order of urgency. This is why the waiting times can vary regardless of the order of arrival.
Some of the emergency patients are seen by a nurse. The nurses who see emergency patients have been specially trained, and they will always consult a doctor when necessary.
There are no set visiting hours. In the monitoring and observation rooms, only 2 visitors per patients for 15 minutes at a time are allowed. Persons accompanying the patient are welcome to wait in the waiting area.
Patient inquiries tel. 019 548 2551. Note that we can only give information about patients to close family members with the patient’s consent. Mobile phones are allowed at the emergency room, and we hope that you contact the patient themselves.
The café is located next to the main entrance. You can check the café opening hours on the
website of the café.
A drinks vending machine is located in the waiting area. There is also a snack and coffee vending machine in the café next to the main entrance, which is available 24/7.
There is no ATM on the hospital campus. The nearest ATM is located in the Kevätkumpu shopping centre which is about 1 km away.
Parking fees apply on weekdays 6.00-18.00 at parking facilities P1 and P2, which are closest to the entrance.
Parking meters accept coins, credit card and Easypark app payments. Free parking is available in other car parks.
