An urgent situation means that the patient is not in immediate danger, but the situation requires treatment on the same day (e.g. abdominal pain, small injuries and bruises, sudden deterioration of a general condition).
Contact the emergency services in your local health centre during its opening hours. At other times, call the telephone helpline for urgent care: Medical Helpline 116117. The number is free to call and is available 24/7.
Take a number from the ticket machine and wait for your turn to register as a patient.
At the emergency department, the patient's need for care and urgency is first assessed, and the patient will be seen by a nurse or a doctor or placed in a treatment area for monitoring. If necessary, the patient is admitted to hospital.
If the patient's condition does not require emergency care, the patient is advised to contact their own health centre.
Patients are seen in order of urgency. This is why the waiting times can vary regardless of the order of arrival
Some of the emergency patients are seen by a nurse. The nurses who see emergency patients have been specially trained, and they will always consult a doctor when necessary.
Families and friends are welcome to visit the patients.
Monitoring Room 7 is used for critically ill patients, so the maximum visiting time is 30 minutes owing to the nature of care and the patient's poor condition that requires rest.
