Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis in Helsinki and Uusimaa hospital district from 2006 to 2017

Marja Kovala and Anne Räisänen-Sokolowski (HUSLAB, Pathology)

The diagnostic criteria and classification of membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) has been revised and renewed during the last decade. Many of the patients previously diagnosed with MPGN have not had adequate diagnostic evaluation according to the modern standards. To date, there is lack of knowledge on the disease etiology and prognosis of the Finnish MPGN patients. The aim of the project is to re-evaluate the histology, clinical course and diagnostic investigations as well as treatments in MPGN patients living in the HUS-area.
