Appropriate socks in diabetes

Use moisture-absorbing, non-chafing, and non-constricting socks to avoid skin abrasions.

Wearing shoes without socks may cause chafing. Choose sock material based on the foot and avoid socks with thick seams that can press or chafe. Socks should be able to absorb and remove the moisture resulting from sweating. If the socks are too tight or have tight ribbing on the ankle, it may reduce the circulation in your feet. Change your socks daily.
