Dialysis in diabetes

The treatment for severe kidney failure or uraemia is dialysis, also called an artificial kidney treatment.

Diabetes is the single major reason for dialysis. Each year, 70–100 people with type 1 diabetes and roughly the same number of people with type 2 diabetes start dialysis.

There are several different ways to implement dialysis. Dialysis and its different forms are discussed in detail in Kidneyhub (in Finnish and Swedish).
