Diabetes and interdigital maceration

You can best prevent interdigital maceration by wearing well-breathing, properly sized socks and appropriate shoes.

In the image is a right foot with maceration between the fourth and fifth toes, where an ulcer has formed.

Masceration between the toes is often caused by sweating feet, shoes or socks that are too small or the incorrect position of the toes. Broken skin is vulnerable to yeast and bacterial infections.

When treating the masceration between your toes, in addition to carefully washing can drying the gaps, use lamb wool or woven fabric folds between your toes.
