Diabetes and foot fungal infection

Athlete’s foot and nail fungus often start with broken skin between the toes and spread from there to the sole of the foot and nails.

Fungal infection between the toes or in the sole of the foot is normally treated with applying a powder or cream locally. Keeping the feet, socks and shoes clean helps with the treatment of fungal infection. It's advisable to wash socks at 60 degrees Celsius. It is also a good idea to spray the shoes with a medicinal powder every now and then during the foot treatment.

Nail fungus is confirmed by a fungus sample. There are local nail treatment products available over the counter, which you can try for minor nail changes. Oral products are prescription medicines, the suitability and treatment period of which is determined by your doctor.
