Moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy

Proper treatment of blood sugar, blood pressure and lipid disorders prevents the progress of retinal degeneration.

The image shows moderate non-proliferative retinopathy: microaneurysms, hemorrhages, and lipid deposits.

If the blood sugar level stays high, the damage to the blood vessels in the retina progresses and minor leakage of blood and clots, build-up of fat and swelling may occur in the fundus in addition to microaneurysms.

Then the condition is known as moderate moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopath. Proper treatment of blood sugar, blood pressure and lipid disorders is extremely important. Otherwise, these changes do not require any special treatment. With proper basic treatment, some of the changes related to NPDR may disappear over time.
